What is this Course about?

The Level 3 Course in Business Administration is an industry-recognised qualification for supervisory, administration and office-based personnel. This course will help to develop skills and confidence and gives valuable recognition for meeting high standards in the workplace. These qualifications are based on recognised occupational standards and are certified by City & Guilds a leading Awarding Body for vocational qualifications.

To achieve this certification there are a number of elements you will need to complete. This is called a framework and consists of two main components’:-

  • Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English at Level 2

The Level 3 NVQ in Business and Administration will be carried out whilst you are working and carrying out your daily activities. Evidence will be collected by your Vocational Coach to show that your current role meets the minimum national standards within the industry and will ask you to supply evidence on daily tasks and duties to support your electronic portfolio of evidence. The Vocational Coach will require you to complete a number of workbooks and online assessments relating to your current role to demonstrate the knowledge you have learned.

What Will I Learn?

There are several modules as part of the course and these include (but are not limited to):

  • Principles of Business Administration

The role and activities of a business support team – understanding how organisations work, the activities that support them, processes, governance and compliance. Considering ergonomic and legal requirements of the role and impact on others, including equality and diversity.

  • Business Communications

Identifying and understanding stakeholders and effective communication, including professional language and media.  Developing your own skills to deliver presentations.

  • Self development

Understanding the impact of managers and leaders in different contexts, setting and managing targets and how to build effective working relationships and teams.

Functional Skills in Maths and English

If you don’t already have a grade C or above in GCSE then you’ll need to complete Functional Skills at Level 2.

At Xtp we are committed to developing these skills throughout your time with us. You will receive an initial assessment and, if you have not already achieved A*- C GCSE in these subjects, you will be supported in working towards this during your time with us.

How long is the course and where will it be taught?
The length will vary according to the workplace and individual, although there is an expectation that it will be completed within 12-18 months. An assessor will visit you in your workplace to train, assess and review you on a regular basis.

Entry Requirements

Usually set by individual employers. You’ll need to have English & Maths GCSE at grade C or above, or complete this during your training. You must be employed in a role relevant to this programme to be eligible to apply.

What Will I Achieve?
You will achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration.
